Overview
There are a few different ways you can customize the way you collect contact information from your customers during their online shopping experience. In this article, we'll review these different settings.
Online Shop Registration
For each photo job, you have the option of asking - or requiring - your customers to complete a registration form when they enter your proofing shop. This form will only appear after the job has been set to selling, meaning you will collect your customer's contact information even if they don't make a purchase.
- Within the photo job's Settings, go to Actions → Advanced Job Settings.
- Scroll down to the Registration section. Here, you can choose:
- To make the registration form optional, meaning customers can bypass it if they want to and continue with their shopping.
- To make the registration form required, meaning customers have to complete it before they can proceed with shopping. Recommended if you have no parent / customer data.
- To make the registration form appear after every login, which means that each time the customer signs into your shop, they will be presented with the form. Please use this option for jobs with one access code.
- Save your changes. All changes will be effective immediately and live in your shop.
Ask for Cell Phone Numbers
SMS capabilities are currently available to North American customers only. We look forward to implementing GDPR-compliant SMS functionality for our UK customers in the future.
In addition to their name and email address, you can also ask customers to provide their cell phone numbers when they are interacting with your shop. Customers who share their cell phone numbers can then receive text message notifications from your automated communication profiles and newsletters.
- Go to Settings → Communication Settings → SMS Settings.
In order to send text messages, please follow these steps first: Set Up Your Text Message (SMS) Settings
- If you haven't already, enter your cell phone number to be assigned a Twilio phone number. This will ensure that your own phone number is hidden behind the Twilio number when sending out text notifications, keeping your number private.
Before Your Job is Set to Selling
Whenever your customers log into your proofing shop before their photos are available, they'll automatically be asked to add their contact details to be signed up for future notifications and reminders.
If You Don't Have Buyer Contact Information
If you don't have your customers' contact details, you'll need to rely on the organization to share the right information with customers about picture day and ordering, including:
- Picture day date, time, location, and any special requirements (i.e. props, dress code, etc.)
- The URLs to your online prepay and proofing shop(s)
- How customers can place prepay orders - using the access code or job name
Make sure to clearly communicate this information to the organization to ensure a smooth picture day and ordering process for your customers.
Collected Information
Data given by parents during the online registration for photo day are stored in a list of names that can be viewed at any time in your Photo Job. Simply click the "See full list" link within your Photo Job's access settings on the Photo Job Main Settings Page as indicated below:
This list can then be edited or exported, making it useful for contacting buyers outside of the GotPhoto system:
