Best practices for Sports Photography
Follow these proven tips to ensure consistency and save time during your sports photo jobs.
Photography tips: keep it consistent!
Lighting:
Ensure consistent lighting between subjects, especially when creating composite groups. This creates a seamless, polished final image.
Scaling:
Use a tripod and have athletes stand on the same mark each time. This speeds up post-production and enhances design accuracy.
Proofing tips: you're in control!
Review your proofs:
Use a computer to review images clearly. Leave detailed comments and keep revision rounds minimal to avoid delays.
Complete your review:
After commenting, select "Changes Required" or "Approved" to inform the production team. Not doing so may delay your job.
Job setup tips: Set yourself up for success!
Names list:
Start with an accurate list. This helps your job move quickly from editing to sales.
Groups matter:
Use unique group names. These details (first name, last name, group name, jersey number) are used for creating virtual groups and memory mates.
Don’t forget the coaches!
Include coaches in your names list. Use placeholders like "Coach" for the first name and a number for the last name.
