Best Practices for Sports Photography
Photography Tips: Keep It Consistent!
When it comes to scaling and lighting, consistency is key for top-notch results across all your images.
Lighting:
If you're creating composite groups, consistent lighting between subjects is a game-changer. It ensures a seamless and polished final image that looks stunning and cohesive.
Scaling:
Set your camera on a tripod and have your athletes hit the same mark every time. This simple trick helps the design team work their magic faster, delivering incredible results in no time!
Proofing Tips: You're in Control!
Proofing your jobs puts you in the driver's seat! Requesting minor edits during the proofing stage is easy, but following our best practices will help keep the process smooth and efficient.
Review Your Proofs:
Take your time as you go through your proofs and leave comments. For the best experience, we recommend using a computer rather than a phone for a clearer view. Keeping revision rounds to a minimum helps us stay on track and ensures your project wraps up on time!
Complete Your Review:
After you’ve made your comments, don’t forget to click “Changes Required” or “Approved.” This lets the production team know you're finished and ready to move forward. If you don't notify them, your proofs might sit unnoticed, causing delays.
Job Set Up Tips: Set Yourself Up for Success from the Start!
Names List:
Getting your names list right is the first step to ensure your job moves smoothly through image editing and straight to sales. Follow our best practices to guarantee everything is picture-perfect every time.
Groups Matter:
Ensure your groups are listed with unique names on your names list. This is essential for building accurate virtual groups and making sure the right teams appear on your stunning memory mates. The only details sent to Next Gen are first name, last name, group name, and jersey number (identifier).
Don’t Forget the Coaches!
Your coaches deserve the spotlight too! Assign them a spot on your names list just like the athletes. There's no need to use real names—something like "Coach" as the first name and a number (e.g., 1, 2, 3) as the last name will ensure your coaches are included in the final job.
It's Been a While
Several enhancements can make this season run smoother and save you time (and reduce the pain of hours of edits). There are expanded background options, new bundle pricing, faster turnaround, and additional services for Traditional and Traditional+ graphics for added variety.

Best Practices for Everyone!
Upselling
Offering digital downloads at checkout, are a great upsell addition to any package because they can easily be shared, reprinted, or posted to social media. There are also no lab fees for digital products, so they are essentially free for you to produce.
Learn how to configure downloads as an upsell for packages.
You can also add retouching services to boost sales, this is especially popular with senior shoots. Learn how to add retouching services to your next job.

Coupons
Coupons are timeless tools in sales promotion. Time-limited coupons offer a dual advantage for photographers:
Firstly, they create a powerful purchase incentive. Secondly, the time-sensitive nature of the discount gently nudges registered potential buyers through email communication profiles, reminding them to complete their purchase.
Learn how to configure and use coupons in GotPhoto. You can also check out this quick how-to video here.
As you begin to set up coupons, keep these additional tips in mind:
You can customize coupons for any photo job to your liking. This includes defining the type and amount of the coupons, a minimum order value, and whether it applies only to the first order or to all orders from a customer. Strategically place the minimum order value between the first and second savings packages to encourage customers to buy more. You can define up to three voucher levels.
Time-limited coupons are ideal for creating purchase incentives, as parents will order more quickly to take advantage of the discounts. Therefore, set a deadline for the coupon in the photo order. A runtime of about two weekends from the start of sales has proven effective. Configure coupons now.
