Overview
This feature is especially useful if you want to ensure a minimum total for each shopping cart while giving your customers the freedom to choose their preferred products. Please note that it is an additional feature that needs to be activated by our Customer Care team.
Setting Up A Minimum Order Value in your Price Profile
Once the feature has been activated in your account, you can access it on the Price Profile settings page:
- Open your price profile.
- Click Actions on the top right of the profile, then Settings.
- Under Minimum order value, add the amount you want to set as the order threshold. Per default, it is set to zero, meaning, there is no minimum order value.
Please know that you can opt for either a mandatory package or a minimum order value, not both. As with the mandatory package restriction, the minimum order value feature is supported in both the Proofing and in the Prepay shop.
Apply per access code: If you select this option, the order threshold will be applied for each access code the customer is using within the job, instead of once per order (e.g., if a customer has two kids within the job, the average order value is $25. When this option has been selected, the customer can only check out if the order value (without taxes and shipping fees) is at least $50.
Once activated, the shop will show a lock with a small note for all orders that use the price profile.
Once the customer has added one or more products to the cart and reached the order threshold, the notification and restriction will disappear.
The Takeaway
A minimum order value can be set according to your preference to avoid accepting orders below a certain amount and discourage minimal purchases like a single lower-priced print. This approach often encourages customers to spend more, potentially leading to larger orders. While it serves as an alternative to the more common mandatory package purchases, it still allows customers the flexibility to buy items à la carte if they prefer.
