Group and Class Photo Creation with QComposite

Overview

QComposite is a simple and efficient class composite software for providing group photos. The app (the previous version is known as QuickComposite) is now part of QSuite and will eventually integrate all Q-apps in one single suite: QMate, QID, and QComposite.

QComposite offers two application modes: The Standard Mode for full template creation and editing, and Easy Mode, designed for quick, simplified collages using pre-made templates. This guide will help you navigate key features, from creating and customizing templates to generating your final composites.

1. Get started

  • Download QComposite for Windows or macOS here

  • Purchase your yearly license key on this page.

  • Enter your license key in QComposite. Valid license keys from QuickComposite can be used in QComposite. Please remove the license key first from one app in order to use it in the other app.

  • Use the student data export feature (US / UK) in your job's Selling tab to export subject images. The student data export feature allows you to rename your exported files in the file format that is required for QComposite if you want to display the subjects' names on the composite (firstname_lastname). We created a quick video to guide you through the steps.

  • If you used QuickComposite in the past, you can use the same backgrounds. Here's a link to download the 5×7 in and 8×10 in sized templates. You can also find a range of free backgrounds at Nolte Software. Please always ensure that the background you select matches the size of the composite you would like to create.

2. Easy Mode

The Easy Mode is a simplified option designed for users who want to quickly create collages from pre-designed templates. It limits available tools to essential functions, such as loading templates, adding photos via drag-and-drop, and making basic adjustments to text. Ideal for non-technical users, Easy Mode streamlines the process, allowing efficient creation of collages without the need for extensive customization or complex editing.

3. Standard Mode

The Standard Mode in QComposite provides full access to all editing tools. It allows you to modify layers, adjust text and image properties, and design templates from scratch. This mode is perfect for users who require full control over the layout, offering flexibility for complex designs and repeated use.

4. Customize a preloaded template in the Standard Mode (recommended for beginners)

If you do not want to start your template from scratch, simply use one of the preloaded templates and customize it in the Standard Mode to your needs.

  Pro Tip: QComposite Help

Within the app, you can find the   icon that will provide you with additional information about the available features. You can access the full overview and additional tutorials here (click help > Toolbar, Layer List, or Property Editor). The full list of all QComposite videos can be accessed here.

The Takeaway

QComposite provides both a quick and easy way to create class composites with Easy Mode and full customization options in Standard Mode. Whether you're customizing pre-made templates or designing from scratch, the app makes the process efficient.
