This article is relevant to UK customers only.Postage by you is a legacy feature that was introduced before batch shipping settings were available.
This setting allows orders using a specific price list to be shipped to you first, instead of directly to the customer.

When to use postage by you
Use this option only when you want to receive the order first and then handle delivery to your customers yourself.
After the order is shipped to you, you can:
- Re-ship the order to your customer.
- Distribute the order directly to your customer.
[Recommended] Use batch shipping instead where possible. With batch shipping, customers do not pay individual shipping costs, and orders are delivered to the organization.
Set up postage by you
Adjust this setting in the price list where you want the shipping behavior to apply.
- Go to Settings.
- Select Price lists.
- Open the relevant price list.
- Select Actions.
- Select Advanced settings.
- Enable Forwarding by the photographer.
In your price list, you can adjust the settings so that every order made for that price list will be sent to you.

Important notes
Review these details before enabling postage by you.
- The customer still enters their billing address during checkout.
- The customer can also enter a different delivery address, if applicable.
- The customer is not informed during checkout that the shipment will be sent to you first.
- The customer pays the initial shipping costs charged by the lab.
- You may need to communicate your delivery or collection process before customers place their orders.
[Important] Customers may assume that orders will be shipped to their home address because they paid for shipping during checkout.
[Important] This change affects all photo jobs that use this price list.
[Optional] If the adjustment should apply to only one photo job, duplicate the price list first. Then save the changes in the new price list and use that price list for the relevant photo job.
The takeaway
Postage by you sends orders to you first, but customers still pay shipping and may expect home delivery. For most workflows, batch shipping is the recommended option because it is clearer for customers and better suited for orders delivered to an organization.
