Overview
If your job has a names list, you can enable your customers' ability to select their favorite photo. This option is useful in cases of needing to choose a yearbook photo.
By default, the index photo (marked with a star) is the first image following the QR Card, and the first image in a barcode or metadata-tagged job. If you allow buyers to choose a favorite photo, it will change to whichever they select.
Enabling the Feature
Under your Job Settings, select the option Customers can select their favorite photo and select Yes, Yearbook photo. Please know that a names list is required in order to see and use the feature.
This is how it looks for customers when they log into your shop:
If they change the image but selected the wrong image, they are still able to log in again and correct the image (as long as the Yearbook selection is activated under the Settings of the job.) You can also adjust the index image under Photo Management. Click the image that you would like to select, under the bigger preview on the right side of your screen, click the star icon.
You may see two starred images. However, when you hover over the two stars, one will say Default selection and the other one will say Your selection. Your selection has the higher priority for the yearbook selection and overwrites the default selection. If the customer/ student selects a different image, it will show a heart icon and also overwrite your selection. More details can be found here.
You can manually change the index photo once uploaded using the 'Set as index photo' highlighted above, but this may be time-consuming depending on the number of students you’ve photographed. In order to save time, we highly recommend taking the first photo in the correct format.
Pro Tip:
If you want to restrict the selection of photos, you can tick the box "Restrict selection to qualified photos" under the Job Settings.
With this option, you will apply a 5-star rating in your preferred editing software to all suitable photos for the yearbook, and customers will only be able to select from those photos. The first 5-star rated image in the gallery will be the one the system will add to the student data export. In the gallery, all 5-star-rated images will have an orange icon that shows 5 stars. When you create the Student Data Export, you have a last option, to adjust the index photo before you generate the export:
- Click the Selling tab within the photo job
- Click Student Data Export
- Click Create export
- Select the Format in the Format Drop Down Menu:
- PSPA
- Custom
- fileSelect the pattern for the photo files names (Optional, select Custom to build your own pattern)
- Click Proceed to Preview: Here you can see what the end customer selected, you could also override any selection by pressing the Select Photo button.
The Takeaway
Empower your customers by allowing them to choose their favorite photo, which is particularly useful for yearbook selections. Easily enable this feature in your job settings, giving students the flexibility to pick their preferred image.
